Halfpenny Spiral Earrings

After cutting the Tiki from vintage NZ halfpenny coins, I'm still left with quite a bit of coin.

So I decided to craft this wicked wee spirals.

I've cut away the motif that flanks the Tiki, and what is left is the outer edge with the wording on it.

The cut edges are smoothed and polished, then the coin is flattened so what is left is a strip. This is then bent into a spiral and these wicked earrings are formed.

I craft my own sterling silver hooks by recycling vintage sterling silver, forming it into wire to make the hooks.

Total length including the sterling hooks is 5.5cm.

These earrings can be gently cleaned with a soft cloth and silver polish.
